Hi there,
I’ve found a couple of strange things in the amazing Newsmag theme:
1) Even if I set up the sort order filter on the block 7 to “Popular” and also already enabled the 7 Days Post sorting option in the Newsmag theme panel, I can’t get the “most popular” posts listed in the block 7 (http://352.be7.myftpupload.com i.e. “PIU’ VISTI”, PIU’ COMMENTATI” right sidebar). I suppose that the “most popular” post are posts the are most clicked and therefore viewed isn’t it? So, if my site is not published yet, the “most viewed” posts should be the ones I’ve clicked more during my tests, isn’t it? But I can’t get any post at all!
2) Opposite of the above considerations for the “most commented” posts: a list of posts are reported on a block 7 but they have all zero comments! What’s wrong in this case?
3) The top right post filter (Latest, In evidence, Most popular, Random, …) located in the landing page when user clicks on a category mega menù, doesn’t give any posts when “In evidence” option has been seleceted, even if some posts of that category have been flagged as “In evidence”. Why I get this behaviour?
Thanks a lot for any advice.

Hi
1. Make sure you have enabled post views: http://screencast.com/t/9okDbuympmU then go to post editor, edit a post and refresh the browser a few times. After that check in custom filed section if the values are updated: http://screencast.com/t/ZdE16XKxBg – if they do make sure you empty all caches and check again.
Please also note that if you use cache the seven days sorting may not work well, if you want an accurate result using it, you should disable cache.
2. Please make sure you have posts with comments according with the filter set from that block. This options http://screencast.com/t/OYpgEUeDB refers at the order in which posts will be displayed in block, meaning that the post with the most comments will be displayed first.
3, I am not sure at what filter are you referring so please provide a specific url where this issue appear so I can inspect it closer. Meanwhile try to clear all caches and test again.
Thanks!
Hi Andrei,
point 1 and 2 have been closed successfully thanks to your tips, great man!
Now, concerning the point 3, if you go to the link http://43b.60a.myftpupload.com/category/cronaca/, and see right below the black main menu, on the right, you can see a white select combo with a down arrow set to “Ultimi” i.e. “Latest” in english.
The other options of that combo are: “Ultimi”, “In evidenza”, “Più popolari”,… In english those items mean “Latest”, “In evidence”, “Most popular”,…
The option “Metti questo articolo in evidenza” (I don’t know how better translate in english, maybe as “Flag this post as an highlighted post”) checkbox is available to selection in the post fast modification section only. Therefore I expect to see the post flagged as “highlighted posts” to be listed when I click on “In Evidenza” item of the above mentioned combo, but no way to get any highlighed post as you can see. What’s wrong?
I hope I’ve made myself better understood now 🙂
Thanks a lot and looking forward for a your reply.

Hi
I assume that by: Flag this post as an highlighted post you mean Featured post.
On the category page the drop-down filter from right side will display posts only from that particular category and its subcategories. For example on our demo if I filter posts from Fashion category by featured: http://demo.tagdiv.com/newsmag/category/tagdiv-fashion-week/?filter_by=featured will be displayed only three items, the posts which are set featured from Fashion category.
My point is that you must have some posts which match the selected filter in order to get the desired result. You can see that if you filter the posts from Chronicle category by featured filter, on your site, you have only one item displayed: http://screencast.com/t/eYyD6Yiiyx7j which means that only one post from that category is a featured post.
Hope this help.
Thanks!
OK Andrei,
now I’ve definitely understood the matter :). My doubt was originated from a different “Featured” word translation in italian language: in some places of wp backend it has been leaved as “Featured” and in other places it has been translated as “In evidence”. Sorry about that but I haven’t taken a look before to the address bar of my browser otherwise I would have noticed of it!
Thanks a lot,
Giuseppe

Sorry Andrei,
I have other details on the matter. I thought that it was clear to me but another doubt arises. Look at this screenshot http://screencast.com/t/WgMlLD9Rg I have two different options: the “Featured” category and the “Put in evidence” checkbox right below the pubblication state combo. Why are there two different controls if, as you said, the “Evidence” and the “Featured” are the same thing?
Thanks,
Giuseppe

Hi
I am not sure from where this option comes, in your Wp: http://screencast.com/t/PlArizTwoKu may be added by some plugin as on my side I don’t have such an option, I use WordPress 4.3: http://screencast.com/t/KsmboDLamo
Try to deactivate all plugins except Visual Composer and check if that option is still there.
Thanks!
