Akismet is useful. Some google captcha plugins on the wordpress.org repo.

Not my theme. Comments are generally part of WordPress, not theme; theme may add CSS to add fancy style, but comments are “handled” by WordPress.

But check the demos to see what is there or what is not.

This is standard, i expect that from a premium theme. Any theme have this, every captcha plugin can hook into the form but at newspaper theme: oh sorry, what is a captcha?

Most themes don’t have captcha. It’s an add-on depending on what type of comments being used. For example how would the theme add a captcha code to Facebook comments system, or DisQus ? So, for example most people use AKISMET as starting point, included with theme; then tune the default WP settings under ‘discussion’ — such as blocking certain terms; you can also use third party captcha plugins, for simple captcha, or hook in Google’s system (‘I am not a robot’), etc. — and of course many sites choose not to have comments anymore at all due to 90% being spam and not adding anything to posts except troll comments — ahem, much like yours 😉

Newspaper isn’t most themes. I bet facebook and disqus have their own spam preventing actions.

So what do you recommend. Akismet is not free for commercial sites.

I wanted to use a captcha like recaptcha from google via a plugin. It is displayed but you dont have to click it before submitting the comment.
Can you recommend any captcha plugin, that is working with your premium newspaper theme? The most plugins i’ve tried don’t show up anything at the comment form.

This is not many sites, i want to have comments. I want to have these 10% human comments.

For me it sounds just like pretext.

I mean, this is no special wish, it’s standard.

And no, we don’t earn enough to pay for akismet. (Especially not when there are so many free solutions, like a simple captcha.)

Not my theme. As suggested, comments are not part of theme, but part of WordPress core — so useful to go look at the plugins which have been around, some for the past 5-10 years on WordPress.org …
