Problem updating from 3.3 to 3.8.1

When I try to install Newspaper 3.8.1 over 3.3 I get this error message

Fatal error: Call to undefined function wpb_js_remove_wpautop() in /home/content/p3nexnas03/54/2064854/html/wp-content/themes/Newnewspaper/includes/shortcodes/td_text_with_title.php on line 30

Any advice?

I had to install update via FTP, and then manually install the VisualComposer.

The best way to upgrade is found on the ThemeForest changelog for the theme.

hi @saltzfrau did you manage to revert back to 3.3?

I’m looking at this issue… there may be a bug if the theme is runned without the visual composer plugin installed.

Hi @Radu yes, because I didn’t deinstall 3.3 in the first place. I’m new to WP so to try and avoid screwing everything up X-) I installed 3.8 under a modified theme name and that means I can switch between the two at the moment.

I did try FTP first but my Filezilla display is different to the instructional video…I will have another go.

However it did work once I deleted 3.3 and uploaded 3.8.1 again and installed and activated the plugin 😀

Glad that you manage to make it work. We are releasing an update today to fix the issue
