Problem with picture since the last update

Hi,

Since the last update of the Newspaper, I am having problems with the pictures. All the pictures have turned rectangular instead of square, and some transformed into a square instead of round. Also, they are not clear like before. Here is a screenshot: http://www.screencast.com/t/fux14xeT

Also, I don’t understand what the TAGDIV Composer is? What should I do with that? Is there a documentation about it?

Thank you

Hello yachtsailingcharter,

Please check your Theme panel -> Thumbs settings and ensure if all of these are enabled, like this -> https://www.screencast.com/t/DpTr3JlLF Please keep in mind that TAGDIV Composer is our page builder which is a frontend editor. For more information about this new feature, please consult our documentation here -> https://forum.tagdiv.com/tagdiv-composer-tutorial/ -> https://forum.tagdiv.com/visual-composer-tagdiv-composer-transition/
Read all of our documentation and try to understand what is the plugin’s functionality.

Thank for your understanding!

Hi Catlin,

Thank you for the reply.
Do I really need the TagDiv on the theme? What will happen if I disable it?
Thank you

Hello yachtsailingcharter,

Please keep in mind that composer is our new page builder which replaces the Visual Composer. Notice that you can disable it and continue to use the Visual Composer but we recommend using only our TD Composer because in future updates we will release new features exclusively on our own page builder.

Thanks for your understanding!

Hi again,

Thank you for the reply!
You mean I can disable the JS composer and use the TD composer instead? If I do this, will I still have the same features and codes as the js composer?
Thank you!

Hello yachtsailingcharter,

Please notice that the TD Composer is our new concept regarding on page builder and we recommend to use it because this plugin is fully integrated and optimized in the theme core files. Notice that you can use the Visual Composer if you want but all the new features which we will launch will be exclusively for TD Composer. At the moment, the TD Composer does not have all the features which Visual Composer has because this concept is in continuous development but in the future, we will hope and consider to add many features to it.

Thanks for your understanding!

Hi Catlin,
Thank you again. If I use both js.composer and DT composer, I am having problems on my site. I think there is a conflict with other plugins and it’s too heavy for my site. So I can not use both of them. Is ti possible to know what features will be added to the new TD composer?

Thank you

Hello,

We cannot say exactly what features will be added. We will add multiple new blocks, grids, and elements to the composer in future releases.
Please as a note, do not use both builders on the same page.

Thank you!

Hi Again,

I still have a question. Is it possible to upload single pictures with the DV composer or just blocks and grids?

Thank you again!

I have a question: If for now we continue to use the VC, how do we update it since we always had to do that through Tagdiv?

This is a great thread. Just so I’m clear on the future of the theme and Tagdiv’s vision for us.

I had a page created in VC. After updating to version 8, I just created a new page and recreated the page using TDC. I then went into the editor and copied the code and went back into the origional page. I then deleted the code created from VC and pasted in the TDC code and in many cases it was much less code. (assuming why this is a faster solution??)

From here I resaved the page so not to break any Google juice.

Am I correct in thinking this might be the optimal solution for all of us moving forward?

At some point, is it my understanding that you want us to completely delete the VC plugin and have all of our pages on the TDC system?

Thank you for clarifying.

I tried to put a single image on this page and for whatever reason, it’s expanding, but not getting smaller when viewed on a phone. Could anyone give me some help with this banner image?

Also, can you address anything about the AMP project and if it will be coming to Newspaper?

Hello,

@yachtsailingcharter Yes you can use the tagdiv composer for single images as well. Please check the elements list in the new composer: https://www.screencast.com/t/218FedMCH

@travisnw if you want to continue using visual composer you can do it exactly as before. We will still be releasing updates for the plugin. We will not be adding new block elements to it though but you can use it exactly as before.

@teachercast

You should not use visual composer shortcodes in the tdc builder. Thyeh ave different implementations and the best way to go about it is simply to recreate the page, not copy it from one builder to another. Please read this guide: https://forum.tagdiv.com/visual-composer-tagdiv-composer-transition/
As for our future plans, yes we plan to further improve our own builder rather then adding content to an an external builder.
VC will still be available for people who still want to use it. We will not delete it anytime soon but we always recommend our own builder.

Thank you!

Hi Bogdan,

I’ve decided not to use the TD Builder, it will take too much work for me to switch pages from VC to TD Builder. It is important for me to know that VC composer will stay all the time. If you plan in the future to take it off, then I really need to know this today so I can maybe switch.

Thank you!

Hello,

For the moment we will still provide visual composer free of charge and we do not plan to remove it in the near future, but as the theme moves forward and we develop our own page builder more and more and users will move over to the new page builder as we will not develop anything for visual composer any further, we will probably remove VC in the future but not the near future though. It is hard to say if we will remove VC at all or not from the theme package as it depends on our user base and how many users will still use the visual composer page builder. For the moment we will keep both builders available. We recommend slowly moving over to the tagdiv composer. You can do it over a big time span as the visual composer will still be available many months to come. You can make the move over several months as you can develop pages published privately and only make them visible to the public once they are completed. You can take your time to create the pages.

Thank you!

Hi Bogdan,
Thank you for the reply!
OK, I understand and I’ll move all my pages fro JS to TD composer, but once I moved over the TD, can I only keep the TD Composer and get rid of the JS?

Thank you again

Hello,
Yes, this is recommended that you only keep one builder, and not both.
Thank you!
