Problems with td_x_settings option in the database

Hello, we are having database threshold issues with td_x_settings (td_websitenumber_settings as it is a multisite) option on websites hosted on WPEngine. This option is going beyond maximum database threshold to activate object caching (a feature on WPE). How can we optimize it? Also can we set off the autoload setting for it in the database?

Object cache has a buffer, or storage, size of 1Mb (and td_x_settings is using on some websites 0.72mb and going beyond 1mb on the others). Here’s more information about it: https://wpengine.com/support/wp-engines-object-caching/

Hello!

That file size will increase with the number of settings done in theme panel. Unfortunately optimizing this file is not really possible at the moment.

Thank you!

Hello Vlad, what settings cause most changes – what can we keep at a default level in order to decrease it’s size? Give us some hints of what we should keep as default in the settings and what “costs” us more kb in that file.

Also can we set off the autoload setting for it in the database?

Hello!

It depends which and how many settings you have in the theme panel. All settings are going true the database, also the CSS custom code which you added. My recommendation is to shift the default templates to cloud template, so in this case you will reduce the kb in that file.

Thank you!

Hello Bettina, so the cloud template is not autoloading? How does it work?

What are the settings that cause most increase in the td_settings? I’ve noticed changing menu color / hover color and the accent color – is causing a significant increase. Do you know of any other settings that might cause an increase?

Hi pavel@earnware.com, usually all the code and settings that you set in theme panel are saved in theme panel, therefore the more there are, the size will be bigger. If you can make a test on subdomain, please install a pro demo, and disable the tagDiv Standard pack and check the database size, after that enable the standard pack and install a standard templates and check again.
Thank you!

Hello Calin,

The problem right now is that even if you click reset, it doesn’t reset the theme. Some fields continue to be filled with previous data. Can the reset really reset all the options?

For example, if you add an Ad to any position, it stays there even if you delete it (stays in the database). Same happens if you import theme options (which is a great feature), historic settings are imported, cloud library settings and so on. All of it is causing that file to grow and grow – even if some settings are not used.

Threshold on many servers is 800kb for autoloaded data today, and because the theme is creating a big td_settings option inside the database, we cannot turn on various features that come with server settings, like for example object caching – a WPEngine hosting feature.

Colors in the test I did, are a reason for this great increase in size of td_settings, especially the accent color and the active main menu color.

Hi,

Please send an email at contact@tagdiv.com and provide wp-admin and Cpanel access, so we can investigate this issue. Also paste a link to this topic so we can easily identify you.

Thanks!
