This plugin https://it.wordpress.org/plugins/q2w3-fixed-widget/ to put a fixed widget in sidebar with Newspaper 9.6 does not work. In the “avada” theme it works.
When I scroll the page the sidebar remains empty, I would like to avoid this problem by putting the last fixed widget.

Many things that work with one theme may not work with others, including plugins. Themes are not built or function the same way.
Sidebars and columns can be sticky but as a whole section, not parts of it or specific widgets. There were’t many requests for this functionality so it wasn’t considered.
So only the whole sidebar can be sticky, having only a sticky widget from that sidebar sticky would not be possible. Sorry for the inconvenience.

There is a general setting in the theme panel that has to be activated first
– https://forum.tagdiv.com/smart-sidebar-2/
In pages or cloud templates where the composer is used, you have to select the column you want and make theme sticky, as mentioned in the guide. Let me know if you have more questions.

I was wondering if there are any plans to add this functionality in the future? I also would like to just have one sticky widget rather than the entire sidebar if possible and have yet to find a plugin that works with the Newspaper theme to do so.

Maybe, at the moment I can’t say. Previously in older theme versions the functionality was similar, now it’s just modified for ease of use and improved in some ways. But it still applies on the whole column, not specific elements.
So only if the column contains one widget will it be possible to make only that widget sticky. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Hi, just to throw in my 5 cents,
I’d LOVE for this feature myself as well.
One application/’method of use’ would be to have the top sticky widget for an adsense ad and the rest sticky for whatever one wishes. This way Google’s rules are obeyed. Really a great idea for it methinks.
