Quick Question about Images

Hey guys! So I just created a test-wordpress domain so I can work on what’s best for my actual site with this theme. So far in testing images, I’m getting conflicts. I created a large image, the same size as one of the demo images at 1024×576 and when I uploaded it and inserted it into the post, and set it to be fullwidth, the image butts up right against the sidebar and looks super weird: post with multi-images issue

However, in the same post later down I used the same image again and set it to default and it looks fine, also a note to add: the default included demo images from the import, I set one in the same post to be fullwidth and it works with NO issues, so my question is, what’s wrong with my image? Is there a way to properly insert images via upload if we want to set them to sit fullwidth still in a post layout with a sidebar?

again post with all said image examples is here

Thanks!

Well, if you set an image to load full size in a space that is smaller than the full size it will break the layout as in your example. When you place the image manually into the post, you should choose the smaller size created by the theme/WP to fit that width, which I think is 640×000. Or, if using featured images, simply choose the image as featured image with the layout where featured image is used as main image.

Hope that made sense 🙂

Made sense, I actually did also try that route of setting it to the medium parameter and it did the same thing. But I’ll try it again and see if it works this time.

Ok back to update. Tried that route and same thing but it still doesn’t make sense how the image with Branches (3rd photo down in post) is able to sit as tagdiv fullwidth, but the one I uploaded can’t and won’t work in the same post. Kinda weird. My image is set to be like 500px wide and still nothing, also tried 640px and 600px wide.

I also see in tins of examples on the official demo site that there are fullwidth images in posts that aren’t fullwidth but grid like this http://demo.tagdiv.com/newsmag/the-evolution-of-design-and-technology-review/

How do I accomplish that given my errors as explained above?

Weird.
You can see in one of my posts, the image fits just right with 640px width

AH

on your page you have inserted a larger image
http://afro.freshmedleydesigns.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/12/AY-NewsMag-size-2-1024×576.png

which is being inserted into the page as 681×383, which is breaking your layout.

You may want to go into the wp settings > media > and set the large or medium size to 640×480 or something like that, even though the theme should be doing that.

Also check the newsmag theme setting for blocks to ensure the 640×0000 size is “enabled” checked “on.”

That should solve it 🙂

Tried those and still same weird issue. The blocks settings they are all turned on, still didn’t help. The image is actually set to be inserted as 640×360 still didn’t help when set to be the tagdiv fullwidth style, not sure why though. I’ll test a whole brand new post and insert the image there and see if the same things happen.

Good thing I’m testing this on my theme test domain and not my actual site first.

Ok, so maybe it’s just that the demo posts don’t work well with being edited? Because I created a brand new post and decided to use that same 1024×576 image, inserted it the same way and set it to be tagdiv fullwidth and in modal and it works! http://afro.freshmedleydesigns.com/?p=155

I’ll continue to do more test posts and see what happens. But I’m wondering, if on my live site, for posts I already wrote way prior to installing the theme, would that weird issue occur if I go edit old posts and want to set images to fullwidth? (I’ll test some as well and see and let you all know).

Hi,

I think you added multiple padding – http://screencast.com/t/YNcQr1PUFIsp and that’s why the post elements (text, images) get out of the box.
Try to go into text mode and clear all div’s – http://screencast.com/t/Ezni0I3xWN , update the post and check if the issue is still there.
If needed add the padding but only once – http://screencast.com/t/eN5lag88sLuG

Thank you, Emil G.
