Quickest way to embed YouTube videos into posts

Hi,

I’m just wanted to check, is there a quick way to embed videos into posts using just the YouTube URL (not as a featured video) or do we just have to use the YouTube embed code? I’m just trying to figure out the quickest way to do it. Presumably the video playlist shortcode only supports playlists and not individual videos?

If the theme doesn’t support this, have any video shortcode plugins been tested?

Thanks both. Edward, thanks for the screenshot, that’s the method I use at the moment, but it’s just not the quickest because you have to go get the embed code, plus it is very difficult to do if trying to post from a mobile (and it’s an extra step that some of our site contributors wouldn’t be too comfortable with when submitting posts through the front end).

I’ll try a couple of plugins anyway and see how they work.

WordPress supports just placing link to YouTube video into any post …

it’s a built in feature of WordPress and not theme related:

That was a cool video.

WordPress will automatically turn the URL into a YouTube embed and provide a live preview in the visual editor.
