I want to be able to click on “home” in my menu and have it take me to my “front page” http://www.bestlifeafter50.com, not http://www.bestlifeafter50.com/home.

Hi,
If I understand correctly you want to have a button in menu and wen you click on it to be redirect on homepage,
if is that you need to select (or create one page if you don’t have it already ) go in Settings > reading,
select A static page and chose your homepage after that save changes; then go in Appearance > Menus and select
form pages View All, the first will be your home select ( https://www.screencast.com/t/5ORMduis0E ).
