Please install the demo data from theme panel > welcome http://screencast.com/t/NOYhjn6gnV the “Homepage 4” layout should come with the demo data then you will be able to edit the page and see how it’s built.

Or add a new page and add the following shortcodes in the page like this: http://screencast.com/t/GypkMSlFewI

You will need to set the page template to “Homepage – with article list” like this: http://screencast.com/t/z0kdaXL3Zp
You also need enough posts for this to work.
The best way it’s to install the demo data then you will get this homepage.
