The site speed / load time of the site is really an issue for us right now.. time on site and bounce are indicating this is a barrier to real engagement. So it is a priority to get it sorted asap.
We are already on a VPS with SSD storage with KnownHost… so its not exactly $5.99 a month hosting. The server config matches the requirements in the theme panel. Currently we are only getting 4-5k hits a month… but with such poor speed index scores and reports of page load times of over 20 seconds something needs to be done.
I am planing to optimise all the images the best I can… but I wanted to get recommendations of hosting providers from you guys. What is a good but still affordable set up? There are these dedicated WP hosts such as wpengine.co.uk or kinsta.com – would they be better?
Would appreciate some recommendations that I can compare. Thanks! 🙂

Unfortunately we cannot recommend someone for hosting but we have seen many users using GoDaddy hosting. And first I would suggest to you to make the changes you will find in the documentation regarding page speed increase. A lot of users have reported good changes after following these steps: https://tagdiv.com/how-to-increase-page-loading-speed/ Also you can measure your page using gtMetrix
and see what would be the upgrades you need to make.
