Hi, I got a major problem with images. My site is fast running out of disk space and exceeding bandwidth. What can I do to reduce the number of generated images, for that is the disk space culprit. Bandwidth comes from a lot of visitors. I didn’t expect +300 visitors per day in less than a week online.
I’m using on all categories:
category template: default
category top post style: grid 1
article display view: M2
thumbs on modules & blocks:
– 100×70
– 218×150
– 256×198
– 324×160
– 324×235
– 533×261
– 534×462
– Media (in WP itself):
thumbs: 150×150
– medium 300×300
– 1024×1024

In order to trim down the thumbnails as much as possible you need to reduce the thumbnails used on your site. That means reducing the number of different modules used on different templates from template settings and deactivating the thumbs from here: http://screencast.com/t/PDRdb88xk
After you do this please use the force regenerate plugin to regenerate thumbs as it will also delete the old thumbs and unused ones.

I understand that. When I activated the site, I deactivated all the thumbs on purpose. I only activated those that gave warnings (for not being used). Even so, the site is growing like mad. What I was looking for is tips to limit the thumbs a bit. For example, would it help to set the Media sizes to theme sizes? Or is it possible not to use the Media sizes at all?
I use on each category the same layout – in order to keep the different sizes down as much as possible.
Regenerating thumbs, would that help? In what way?
Actually, if you use the force regenerate plugin, it should delete any unused thumbs. But there is no way to reduce the number of sizes created besides the options I showed above. the theme creates thumbnails for every image in the sizes you select from the panel.
