We have related article option in the theme and we are using it. one of our Category posts has not photos so when its coming in the related articles section it wont be good and good experiences for our visitors, please let me know if we can do any of these :
(please be aware our related article is filtered with Categories)
1- showing the specific category in text (without photo placeholder)
2- turning off the related articles option just in that specific category

Unfortunately the related articles will show items from one of the categories the post has. Unfortunately you cannot filter these posts so if there is no featured image, it;s best to chose a predefined one or replace the placeholder. Replacing the place-holder image is a common technique. You need to keep the names of the files and the dimensions though.
