By default Newspaper manages the related articles:
by category picking posts that have at least one category in common with the current post;
or by tags picking posts that have at least one tag in common with the current post.
I need to relate posts by primary category only.
I’m not using default template but a custom one.
For example
https://www.valdarno24.it/2020/02/25/volley-il-weekend-della-pian-di-sco-valdarninsieme/
In this case the post has sport as primary category. In the related articles section a need to show only article with sport category.

Indeed the Related articles has the functionality you described, unfortunately there is no settings in the theme to filter the post only after the primary category, this can be done only with custom work by making some changes in the theme functionality.
