If I choose hide, it just hides the col or row but what if I wanted to unhide it? It just disappears and is not viewable like you can view all page elements in a tree or list in Elementor or Divi.

You need to use tagDiv Composer and from the manager yo need to go in settings and just n enable/disable the hidden elements option – https://i.imgur.com/Nx4qSW3.png
