How do I remove Google+ and Pinterest from the sharing options for a post?

Hi

First of all make sure you do a backup of your current theme/wp install and database also: https://codex.wordpress.org/WordPress_Backups and in case something goes wrong in the update process you can always go back to the previous working version and try again. Then you have to edit the indicated file on your computer using a text editor. The file can be found in the folder that you downloaded from themforest here: http://screencast.com/t/cjbjlEbbDqW After you make the changes upload the file via ftp on your server.

How come there is not much code in the file on the picture (which is live in the FTP) and it says “extends”?

I suspect that you’re using an older version of the theme so if you can’t find the indicated functions in td_module_single.php file try to look in td_module_single_base.php: http://screencast.com/t/e4giOvIeTsPL
