Looks like I accidentally allowed a social plugin to insert their link on my homepage footer.
Can please someone tell me how I can remove that?

Delete plugin ?
Turn off ability for core files to be edited by WordPress via functions.php.
Check your home page template.
Check your functions.php file for something added to it by plugin.
Delete any entry added to your MySQL dbase by the plugin.
Resave permalinks, clear cache; clear transients with WP-Optimize.
