REQUEST: New Lightbox is Great, but…

I love the new lightbox, and would enjoy it even more if it could replace the Responsive Lightbox plugin I’ve used as long as I’ve used this theme. It’s just one more thing slowing down page speed, even on a well optimized site.

After some digging, I found that if you select an image inserted into the content, you can choose to have the tagDiv lightbox applied to the image.

I want to dump the other plugin, but I need its automatic functionality. I run a multi-author site so I can’t go into every post to set every image to use the tagDiv modal lightbox.

Please make your lightbox an automatic for any image in a post that links to the full size image. It’s better to have us turn that featured off than on, by default. Even better still, you could add an option to the settings to set the tagDiv lightbox on or off for all linked images by default.

Aren’t we just talking about a theme setting for how to handle processing of images within the content? If set to “Use Modal Lightbox”, all content images are given the style of .td-modal-image. If set to “Use Standard Image Processing”, all content images are untreated. There’s a bit of IF analysis involved to determine if the image links to its larger version.

Honestly, the theme could manage the link to the larger image itself to accomplish this without much effort.

For those of us with large sites, manually adding the modal box to images isn’t an option. Definitely an idea for consideration when Radu gets back.
