Resolution problem – featured image vs. regular image

Hello,

I just noticed what seems to be a difference in the display quality of the featured image of a post vs. a regular image in the same post. To illustrate this I have created a post here: http://pavlikeni.com/resolution-problem-featured-image-vs-regular-image/ using the same image as the featured image of the post and as a regular image within that post.

If you open the post on your smart phone and zoom into the post (don’t click on the images – just zoom with 2 fingers), notice how the resolution of the featured image (1st image) is much worse than that of the regular image (2nd image). This problem is best seen if you focus on the letters and digits.

This should not be.

Please advise.

Thanks,
Peter

Hello,

On mobile, for a good quality for your images, you should enable the retina support for your thumb used by you. I noticed that you are using the post template default which uses the 640*0 sizes. Try to enable this option from Theme panel, like this -> https://www.screencast.com/t/fwBQvYrm5K and then, using the Regenerate Thumbnails you should regenerate this image from Media Library like this -> https://www.screencast.com/t/zlNhLa8wJyn Clear all your caches and check the results.

Thanks for the message!

Thanks for your response, I will try the solution you suggested and let you know of the results.

On a different note – somebody in this forum is a hacker. Every time I post a link to my sites with an issue, the attacks go sky-high. I do not know who is doing it but, everyone should be aware of this.

Thanks,
Peter

Hello again,

Did both steps that you advised to do, still the featured image has a higher resolution than the image in the post.

Thanks,
Peter

Hello,

Unfortunately, we do not know about any hacker on your website and also, we do not have any bad reports in this regard, sorry!

Thanks for your understanding!

Now you know. The attacks coincide with me posting links to my sites on the forum. I am not expecting anyone to do anything, just letting people know.

Thanks,
Peter

Hello,

Can someone from the developers please answer my question. The featured image of a post still looks worse than a regular image in the same post. Example given above and after the advised steps have been taken, there has been no effect.

Thanks,
Peter

Hello,

Please keep in mind that I have made some tests with your image on my side and I did not saw any difference between the quality of the featured image and the regular image, sorry! Please notice that our theme only cut the image and this behavior does not affect and do not break the quality of the image and that’s why it should appear on the same quality. I suppose that you are using some plugin for optimizing your images and from this case, the quality might have to be different. Please try to disable all untested plugins, leave just Visual Composer to be active, clear all your caches and install only the plugins that come bundled with the theme packet and rule out any conflicting plugins.

Hope this helps and let know how it goes!

Thanks for the message!

Hello,

Thanks for your response. I am not running any image optimization plugins. The difference in quality I see is on my LG G4 mobile.

Thanks,
Peter

Hello,

Please notice that we did several tests on more mobile devices and we have not encountered any problems on quality of images, sorry!

Thanks for your understanding!
