Review system is horrible

I got a really big bad surprise with review system. This one is really horrible ugly piece. What’s going on guys? You can do everything else, way more complex, but not simple review system? This is so far one of the worst review systems I ever seen.

No way to use simple JUST ONE OVERALL score, to add review, get overall score, you are forced add features. Sorry guys, this is nice, but many people do not need it. There should be option to add only overall score, no features.

Next thing is even more surprising, there is no GOOD & BAD / PROS & CONS option. Yeah you can add it to summary list, but it will but everything into one big mess. Yeah you can use some html and make it look better, but I can not ask that sort of stuff from authors and editors. For them these things need to be easy and simple to add.

Is there any way to fix that review system as soon as possible and make it more user friendly?

Or any way to use CUBELL THEMES: REVIEW SYSTEM?

Helps to look at the demo on themeforest before buying.

Great review system we’ve been using for almost 4 years. Love it.

You can add any commercial review plugin you wish, if you don’t like the one included with the theme.

1. Demo did not gave me any information. So I asked directly from team, who said to my questions about overall score = yes, and now I found out that no there is no way to use only 1 overall score! <- WHYYYYY???

Also they said that ohh yeah of course you can add pros&cons <- and again I found out NO, you can’t.

2. I am happy with you if you find that review plugin is awesome. It means you never used it for sites who deal with game reviews. So yes it may work with you but with everyone else no. Also if there is really some people who like existing review system, then it’s good, because you do not need to ruin experience for them. Just add some simple options. Like:
A. One form “OVERALL SCORE”, so people who do not want add features can use overall score area to display score on page.
B. Add Pros&Cons option. So people can add pros&cons list. + & – / Good & Bad. Again if you are happy with exisiting form, you can still ignore pros and cons option.

See? And everyone is happy then. ๐Ÿ˜‰ Also if you say that you have been using same system over 2 years now, without change, then this is the time to change it to better way. ๐Ÿ˜‰

3. I asked about CUBELL THEME REVIEW SYSTEM. It’s installed and have all information there, since our site has been up years. But newspaper theme does not read that info, does not show cubell theme review system on page.

4. And newspaper review theme is outside of post. Which means that social buttons, post bottom ad and everything comes before that review block. <- This is clearly bug and should be fixed.

Hi,

@Edragon
This is the current functionality for the review system. We will try to improve in future!
You can try to use a plugin if you don’t like the theme’s review (which by the way is present on our live demo and you should check it before – http://screencast.com/t/KJgHt0u6LMu3 ) but you may need custom modifications to implement it and work properly with the theme.

If you are unsatisfied by the theme, please ask for refund here – https://themeforest.net/refund_requests/new and we will agree with it. We don’t want to have unhappy customers!

Thanks!

The review system built in is a bit wonky to use, but I like it. It is focused towards author reviews, not customer reviews. The built-in review could use a extra TLC in the form of being able to create review-templates for example. Right now I must enter all the separate categories I review manually on every single post. Maybe it could have a set template that I can use on all posts?

In terms of visitor/customer reviews, there are plenty of plugins available. But it’s hard to use them in combination with the built-in review, as the built-in review ends up last in post. Maybe you could change it so I can decide wether I as author want the review showing first or last in post? Ideally it would be better if I were given a shortcode for it, so I have control over where it is supposed to show in my post/page.

In my project we require both author and visitor reviews, and currently we are using the built-in review for authors. But we have issues on where to put a visitor review in the frontend, since most plugins rely on shortcodes, the review for a visitor/customer ends up way above the authors review. This is not ideal.

The built-in review is not perfect, but it just needs some extra development time to be actually usable for me as an author. It works fine as a author only review, but we have no control over placement of it. It needs some settings to be available in the Themepanel, and really needs a shortcode to use in posts and pages.

I could buy and use a complete review system plugin, but since I already bought a theme where reviews exist, I don’t see why.

Please consdider these things in a update if possible. Pretty please. ๐Ÿ™‚

As a reference to what I think most people here think of when we say reviews, this plugin on WordPress.org covers most of it. https://wordpress.org/plugins/product-review/

Hi,

@Chrizze
With each update of the theme, new features are implemented in order to optimize the functionality and design. An improvement to the review system could be taken into account in a future update, but I can not say for sure when this will happen. The developers have to decide which feature gets introduced and when existing options will get updated, and the list of suggestions and recommendations is constantly increasing, so it is not an easy task. In the meantime please consider using a free plugin for your needs, if the current default review system is not suited for your project.

Thank you for understanding!

@Simion C. You misunderstand. I think the built review is great! But it is geared towards the author, not the visitors. There’s always two sides of the review, mine as author, and visitor as reader.

The built in review should stay, but could be a bit refined with extra features for me as author (like rating templates, so I don’t have to enter my options in all my posts).

There’s two plugins on WordPress that is worthy of mentioning, Site Reviews and Comment Rating Field Plugin. I’ve integrated the latter into my sites comment system, adjusted the CSS, so now I have Author rating and Visitors rating.

Many customers/readers are looking for both the authors, and the existing customers reviews when shopping online.

So, the existing review should stay…just need some extra features. ๐Ÿ™‚

Was hoping that you guys found already time to make it better.

Anyway I was thinking to change it, but same time it may make problems to me in the future. If something changes…

So maybe you guys can add some option or something where people can request something and then pay for that requested feature? ๐Ÿ˜‰ I would happily pay for better review system, because it needs to be changed, to be more user (visual) friendly.

At the moment I add extra line where I write game name add again score there, because without that line it does not show review at all. And then add manually pros and cons, and also include <br> end of every line.

Hi,

I could not say when the review system will get an improvement and more options added. I believe there are more pressing implementations at the moment, but that does not mean this will never happen. There are a lot of suggestions and recommendations, each will be looked upon and decided. We will just have to see what future updates will bring in all aspects.

Thanks
