Schema error with review plugin

Hi,

I think the theme needs a little fix in how it handles the review and article meta/schema info. The problem is that if I use another plugin for reviews, Newspaper tells Google its an article.

The only way that the theme send the correct info is using the build in review option, but you have to really use it, not just selecting.

I thought: “well, If I select the review option but not put in any data to use my plugin…”, but nop, that didnt work.

Is there a work around to this? To select the review option in the post editor so the schema is correct but not needing to input data so we can use another plugin?

You can see my problem right here:

Thanx in advance

Or maybe a way to force a template (in my case single loop 8) to output review schema always. 🙂

Hello,
Unfortunately review plugins are not tested with our theme so I cannot say for sure why this happens. If the shema information is not correct, maybe you can use seo yast and add the meta information with it’s help or simply try a different plugin for reviews but unfortunately I cannot recommend any.
Thank you!

I cant use any review plugin cos the way the theme renders the schema info.

* If I dont use your review option, it renders the article schema, even if I use any other review plugin.
* If I select your review option but dont put any data, it renders the article schema, , even if I use any other review plugin.
* If I select and use your review option… well, that just doest make any sense, cos for that I want to use another plugin.

The theme forces the schema info, and I cant seem to move it.

It would really help me if at least the theme doenst render any schema info in one template, so i can use that template for reviews. Is there any way to do so? Not to render your schema code in just one of the post templates?

BTW. You should really improve the review option of Newspaper. Its the only thing that hasnt change since V4.

Hi,
You can try to remove the code for the reviews and see if the schema info is still added to your post. This should not be the case if the reviews are not present: http://screencast.com/t/XW5rJmrGxl
You can remove the review code for any template.
Thank you!

Hi, Bogdan

The schema info is still there.

The problem is the theme makes some kind of check to input the schema info:

-If you select Review, then is a review post.
-If it isnt a Review, its always an article, no matter what. So the using of third party plugins for reviews, recipes or just any other kind of article is useless.

Thanx in advance.

Hi,
Yes that is the default behavior of the theme. If a review is detected it will mark that article as a reviewed article. I cannot say that for plugins i;m afraid as we have not tested any review plugins.
Thank you!
