Hi ,
I have a couple of issues – first the search isn’t working – when you click on the magnifying glass nothing happens.
Secondly – when you load my site howdoidate.com you see what looks like an html sitemap momentarily before the front page loads.
Can you please help.
Thanks
Derek
Hi,
I have checked your site and found this js errors in your console which can cause this: http://screencast.com/t/hLWlx93tGya
Please make sure that you deactivate all plugins, empty cache, purge files then check again as this should not happen and most likely it’s caused by a plugin conflict.
Regarding the sitemap I haven’t seen it in your case but this could happen due to the speed booster plugin which moves js scripts and css stylesheets to the footer and could cause a delay on loading the resources so this could happen.
In the last theme updated we have also updated the speedbooster plugin to version 3.0 but unfortunately we have some issues with it which case this flash you see when loading the page.
Until we release the next theme update we suggest you send us an email at contact@tagdiv.com with a request for the previous version of the plugin and we will send it to you.
Sorry for the inconvenience and thanks for the message!
Lucian,
Thank you so much for your help – much appreciated.
The search problem was caused by a bootstrap shortcode plugin which I’ve now deactivated and the search now works perfectly.
Until you release the booster update I’ve deactivated V3.0 and this has resolved the sitemap flash problem.
Best wishes
Derek
Hi Lucian,
I’m experiencing a similar problem with the search: when I press the search button nothing happens.
I tried what you recommended above – deactivating all plugins, purging cache etc., and it didn’t solve the issue.
I believe it might have something to do with the fact I had to move my WordPress installation from a subfolder to the root directory, according to the recommendations of my host:
http://www.inmotionhosting.com/support/edu/wordpress/329-move-folders
The initial subfolder was http://www.cobras.org/Home, so maybe the search engine is still fixed on that?
Thanks!
Hi,
Please make sure you have done all is said here: http://www.inmotionhosting.com/support/edu/wordpress/329-move-folders
Also what you can do is to make a backup of you .htaccess then delete if from server, then re-save again the permalinks and see if works.
Also check this to be without Home here: with your corect link to your site http://screencast.com/t/Qefb6jku
Note that one fix I’ve found is also adding the explicit website URL to the wp-config.php file in the root directory of WordPress. This basically tells WordPress that the site is defacto:
http://yoursite/
and not
http://yoursite/directory/
See the WordPress docs (“codex”) on how to do this, but essentially you add this to bottom of the wp-config.php file (always make backup of this also!).
define('WP_HOME', 'http://yourwebsite.com');
define('WP_SITEURL', 'http://yourwebsite.com');
Isn’t it awesome how TagDiv folk help solve issues unrelated to the theme!
Happy Holidays!! 🙂
Hi,
Thanks @Branstone!
Happy Holidays and have fun there! 🙂
Hi Marius and Chris,
Thanks guys, I’m back from the beach…
Happy holidays to you too!
Well I tried all of the above:
1) I made sure I have done all that is said here: http://www.inmotionhosting.com/support/edu/wordpress/329-move-folders
2) I made sure this is without Home here: with your corect link to your site http://screencast.com/t/Qefb6jku
3) I tried Chris’s recommendation of adding these lines to the wp-config.php:
define(‘WP_HOME’, ‘http://yourwebsite.com’);
define(‘WP_SITEURL’, ‘http://yourwebsite.com’);
Nothing worked, and still – when I press the “Search” button – it doesn’t do anything.
The only thing I didn’t try was your recommendation to delete the .htaccess from the server. I didn’t try that because the mere fact that I have a lot of 301-redirects in the .htaccess file that I can’t do without. Is there a way around that without hurting the 301-redirects in the .htaccess?
Thanks!
Hi,
Please give us wp-access so we can also check this and send login details via email at contact@tagdiv.com and also provide an URL to this topic or specify your issues details.
Thanks
