We are using newspaper theme on our website and when we search something, the search result is not always in chronological order, i.e. latest and top and followed by results in the order of new to old. I saw the same thing on your demo for the newspaper theme. How can we fix that?
That’s how WordPress search works — it’s based on “relevance” normally. So, if the term ‘bunny’ is used 10x in one item and 5x in another, depending on that you may see the one with 10x more. I’m not sure if the ajax search works same way.
There are various ‘better search’ plugins for WordPress you can add which improve how the builtin search works, which might be worth looking into.
Not sure that was what you meant as far as “date sort” …. but I’m sure TagDiv may have more official answer; just some food for thought while you wait 🙂
