I have a lot of posts. For last 5 years its about 100 000 posts. Often on main site search which i use a lot i see first result in search very old then second one is pretty fresh. If many search result on page they can be not sorted by date. Please advice where i can tune search results? Thank you very much.

If I understand right your search results are random not filter after latest.
Please make sure that there is not a plugin conflict, please deactivate all non theme plugins, clear all cache and try again.
If the problem is still there, please provide me a link were I can make some deep investigation, in this way I will be able to provide you a better answer.
