Is it possible to add self hosted videos so they work with the theme the same way as YouTube and Vimeo? I.E. With the Post template and Format setting (Standard/Video)

Hi,

Thanks for suggestion I have added this on our list and we will try to improve this in future, however we have over 250 features on our list we have to pick very carefully what we implement.

I don’t know if this can help, but you can add a video in your post content using html video source – http://www.w3schools.com/tags/att_video_src.asp

Thanks!

Thanks – I take that it is unlikely.

We add videos anyway but can’t take advantage of the Post template style setting when clicking ‘video’ format (to get the display on there home page). Feels somewhat untidy.

Can you suggest how I might modify the themes code?

Hi,

You need to upload an image for the featured image, the auto-generated image from video works only for youtube, vimeo, daylimotion video. Not work for self-hosted video but you can find the video support for video format here: http://screencast.com/t/yLS6ixAygT and try to add your videos using the same method.
Hope this helps!

Thanks for the message!

Anyone can post a video using the text editor, however you cannot use the post formats 9, 10 or 11. I have searched all over this forum and can find this question being asked repeatedly but never once accurately answered. Instead I find the answer focused on an image nobody who asked the question really cared much about. How can you use your own self hosted video, or shortcode to the player you are hosting your video in so the video will display in post format 9, 10, and 11?

I understand this is not currently a feature (sadly) but it should be, and developers should, as a best practice, always take into consideration there are hundreds of video sites in the world and not everybody wants to utilize those three. For those of us with whom this is a deal breaker can you advise as to how we would go about modifying the theme so it accepts urls directly to the media and shortcodes to 3rd party players like JW Player etc. I personally self host videos and use a 3rd party plugin that generates a shortcode to display the player and video I want. I just want them to display using those 3 post types. Thank you

Hi malady,

When this system was designed the focus has been made on most popular video sites that’s why we added support for those only.
Sorry for the inconvenience however, as you know, at the moment the theme’s video format only supports those 3 types of videos and extending this to also work with other video types is not easy so you would need customizations to the video format support here: http://screencast.com/t/yLS6ixAygT
If you need this implementation we advise you to ask the help of a developer as, at the moment, we cannot provide any custom services. Sorry! You can find one on site’s like: http://studio.envato.com/
If you can’t use the theme like this and you are unsatisfied concerning this we can ask for a refund. Just let us know via email concerning this and we will give you further instructions. Please address us via email at contact@tagdiv.com and also include a link to this topic.

Sorry for the inconvenience!
