I installed “newspaper” two days ago and I built the theme by customizing it. With the theme that I had before in the “settings” of WordPress I had checked “Latest Articles”. Since I installed “Newspaper” the check is on “Home”. Today I went to Google my site and it wasn’t there. I went to Google Search Control and it says that the page is not indexed because there is a “noindex” tag. Before we had 4600 indexed pages now 38. In two years I have never had this problem and it is very serious for us not to have the page indexed on Google. We have two and a half million monthly visitors and this is a serious damage. All this has happened since “newspaper” was installed. I need a quick fix or I will be forced to uninstall “newspaper”. I believe that it is not possible that a topic such as “newspaper” can do so much damage. We are among the first places in the pages of Google in Italy and we have one of the most followed Cinema Magazine ever. Losing indexing is very serious.
I await your reply as soon as possible. For us it is money that goes away !!!
Hi Lacasito70, this problem seems to be quite strange, because when you reinstall the theme, the posts and pages are saved in database and are not affected, also when you change the content for pages, you keep the old page and you change only the content, as results you’ll update the page, you do not publish a new one. Also this became more strange when you said that only few pages are now indexed.
Now I see that your page is displaying in google results -> https://prnt.sc/vu80eo and the page is indexed -> https://prnt.sc/vu80yq also on homepage I can not find now any noindex element -> https://prnt.sc/vu82ay. As long this option is disable https://prnt.sc/vu82xl and you do not have set individual option for noindex -> https://prnt.sc/vu868t then should be no problems. Unfortunately I can not say what happen there, I also asked a developer from our team to see what can be the problem, now I waiting for his answer.
Thank you for your understanding!
Hi Calin,
the site is now correctly indexed on google. I had to deactivate these parameters https://ibb.co/yFTBdLQ and then send a new sitemap to google.
The test site exists but I have deleted Newspaper. You say there are still problems? I took a ride yesterday. I reinstalled Newspaper on the test site but I first reset the cache.
I re-installed the demo Magazine Pro. Then I went into Cloud and then All Template and I copied the codes of “Category”, “Date”, Author Template “, etc. pasting the code on the moviemag.it templates.
Have you entered the site? Did you see that there is something wrong? I have not been able to understand the problem in my site by reading your answer.
I have left you the data to enter my site as an administrator in the previous email. You entered?
Also I have another problem: the site is indexed with “Home” in front of the site name and I don’t want this https://ibb.co/2gjpk00 soI just want the name of my magazine: MovieMag – The Online Cinema Magazine.
I await your reply.
Thanks!
Alex
Hi,
Sorry for the slow response, it is a busy time for us, the theme has a 30% discount and we also had 2 days of holidays this week.
Also I checked your website via email and everything was set correctly for cloud templates and homepage, therefore non of them could caused the problem mentioned above with noindex for your pages.
And yes, is ok, if you set the cloud template to noindex in Yoast SEO plugin.
Thank you for your understanding!
Hi Calin,
thanks for checking but you didn’t answer my Home problem. Now the site is indexed as in this link https://ibb.co/2gjpk00 or “Home – Moviemag – The Magazine of Cinema Online”.
I don’t want to see the word Home which is surely bought because in WordPress settings it is connected to the static paddle called “Home”. I see many sites that use Newspaper but none of them have the word “Home” in front of their site name. I imagine there is a solution.
Thanks!
Hi Lacasito70, sorry, I forget about the question with “home on google results”, that can be done using Yoast seo plugin and edit the homepage, then edit the seo title for that page -> https://i.imgur.com/lpj4ttj.png -> https://i.imgur.com/IQOfQrT.png -> https://yoast.com/wordpress/plugins/seo/keyphrases-in-titles-and-meta-descriptions/
Hope this will help you!
Thank you and sorry about this!
Hi,
I followed your advice. I changed the name “Home” to my site name “MovieMag” https://ibb.co/vQTrnXy , then in the SEO window I deleted “Title”, “Page” and “Separator” and I left only “Site Title”. I then have a “meta description” up to leave a green bar below (I’m pretty good at SEO) https://ibb.co/QFJ7JGc and this morning this is the result. I told Google in this way to remove the word Home in front of the site title. Perfect! https://ibb.co/G90qyqj
I have another question: I use the log in / log out function on the site but I cannot log in if I try to log in by clicking on the log in button. I see the mask, I enter username and password but I see the written error. Is There a way to connect “login” to https://mysite.com/wp-admin? As you know this is the path to access the WordPress panel that administrators, authors and subscribers have.
Thanks!
