Server Error (After Changing Theme Name)

Good evening,

I was looking into different ways to prevent other people spying into my theme by blocking the theme and plugins that I’m using.

I ran into a few blog posts, and one fo them suggested to change the theme name… And So I followed the instruction int the blog post, but I’m now receiving a Server Response Error for the following link…

URL: https://www.sneakers.tech/wp-content/themes/Newspaper

This is the process I took before changing the theme name:

(WordPress -> Appearance -> Editor)

I don’t recall what was the theme’s original title name (I think that if I put the theme’s original title name again, the server response will be resolved)

*I can create a user login on the back end of our site if you need me to.

Thanks in advance,

You need to change the name of the theme in the style.css, using a text editor.

Best to edit these things on your PC, then upload via FTP; then if you break your site, you can just undo the change you did.

Probably best bet right now, is to reupload the original file(s) you tried to edit via FTP.

Not the fault of the theme or theme company if you break your site in the way you have.

Usually you also need to first change to different theme from WP admin panel; then change theme name in style.css, change folder name; log back in, then change theme to the new theme name from WP panel.

You can’t just edit things randomly via WP editor, as it appears you might have.

Worst case, just delete the theme folder for newspaper from the /wp-content/themes/ folder, and reinstall; then use correct procedure for changing theme name.

Good luck!
