I haven’t upgraded to 4.x yet… Bit concerned to after recent comments here 🙂 (I love this theme by the way)
I was wondering if there was a way to control what featured images/articles appear in the top scroller …. At present, it seems that only the most recent featured articles will show… Is there a way for me to selectively choose which articles appear (regardless of date?).. Eg; say I have an amazing story from a month ago, but I still want it to show in the big slider on the first reel…,, if it’s too old, it will just no show. And also, on a mobile device, only one in 4 will show (but I can understand the technical limitations on this).
..and sometimes,,I have articles that are recent, but I don’t necessarily want then to show on the slider in chronological order (yes, I suppose I could take them out of featured…but, I still wouldn’t mind controlling the order of the featured slider.)
What we did was make an “Editor’s Picks” category, which is how most sites do it (or “featured”), then make it so only that category shows in slider. Then simply pick stories and put each in the custom category. This way we can feature the exact items we want, even something from 3 months ago.
Sounds great – but can you control which order they appear – or is it based on date (which position they appear in the reel)?
