Set the date in a way that it's not index in SERPs

Hi Guys,

I just had a quick question. Is it possible to set a date for articles in a way that the users are able to view it on the page, but the search engines are not able to index that? Like showing it via .js or something instead of the usual php value?

The intention is not to fool Search Engines. My content is mostly (95%) evergreen and date isn’t of consequence, but for the rest of the 5%, the visitors go nuts if a date isn’t shown in the article.

So I want to know if we can show the date on the article page just for the reader and not for the search bot?

I think I had read about this somewhere on the forum, but I am unable to locate it. I can do the needed change in code as well. I am not an expert but can do the basic changes needed. Can you please help me out with this?

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Hello,

We have not tried this so there is no instant solution I cna provide for this unfortunately. You can maybe try a few plugins that claim to be able to hide the date from google: https://wordpress.org/plugins/search/remove+date

I hope this helps.
Thank you!

Thanks for the reply Bogdan.

This is not what I am looking for exactly, but I will give these a shot none-the-less.
