It can be a number of things when a sidebar behaves unexpected. It ca be a plugin conflict. Please try to disable all plugins except visual composer and check the sidebar again.
It can also be the way you created it. Pleas make sure there are no open html tags. This simple mistake can cause a whole number of errors. Try to recreate your sidebar widget and see if it still display the same

The mega menu does that if you add sub-menus to the menu item made mega menu. When you select a menu item to be mega-menu, the theme will grab the sub-categories automatically so please remove them from your menu.

I’m not sure what slider that is as it is hard to figure out from that screenshot. In any case, the only way to make a slider full width is by using the revolution slider that comes with the theme.

If you want to change the format date, please check wp panel->settings->general area, like this -> http://screencast.com/t/D4d5e01xp For more references about format date, please consult this -> https://codex.wordpress.org/Formatting_Date_and_Time and also, please notice that these settings you can set it from as I pointed above and not come from our theme, but only for WordPress. If you want to display more levels in this regard and if you are not aware the steps, please consider hiring a freelancer/developer to do this for you because we cannot provide custom work at the moment, sorry!
