Hi Newspaper Support,
I really love your theme, but I’m having an issue with sharing post content on LinkedIn.
Basically, when you copy paste a website post link on LinkedIn, it grabs all of the posts information including images and text. When I copy and paste a link from any post on my website that is using the Newspaper theme, for example http://www.homeinspiration.co.nz/kitchen/kitchen-decor/2015/11/19/geometric-backsplash-designs-and-kitchen-decor-possibilities/, it can’t grab information about the post.
I initially thought my issue would be related to a plugin I was using. I tried deactivating plugins but I couldn’t find the culprit. That’s when I thought the theme might be the issue. I tried disabling the Newspaper theme, and activated a default WordPress theme and the post link showed information correctly on LinkedIn.
So I came to the conclusion that something in the Newspaper theme is stopping post information being correctly grabbed by LinkedIn. All other social media sites share the post information with no hassles at all. Would you be able to assist me in finding what is stopping post content correctly showing in LinkedIn when a post link is being shared?

Hi David,
I’ve checked your site and noticed the linkedin sharing issues however I’m not sure how this happens, I see you already use Yoast which adds the necessary open graph tags however those informations aren’t picked up.
This could also happen if you have any security modules active or if you have any rules preventing linkedin sharer to grad the necessary informations from your site. I’ve tried to update the informations but had no effect so I believe this may be the case for you, check this discussion and check your configuration for anything similar: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/17083967/linkedin-share-doesnt-show-any-info-just-the-main-url-of-our-website

Yes my website is using Yoast SEO to create the required og tags for LinkedIn to use. As I mentioned earlier, LinkedIn does pick up the information fine when I temporarily switch to another WordPress theme such as one WordPress’ own themes.
My website currently doesn’t use a security plugin/module, so there are no rules being created by any plugins like that that will create rules in my websites .htaccess file. I tried playing around with a couple of possible rules in my .htaccess file that your link suggests but those efforts didn’t quite work. Is it possible that the Newspaper theme creates rules or can do something to prevent LinkedIn from grabbing the og tag information?

The theme doesn’t alter the .htaccess file so I doubt this, and the LinkedIn sharing works for us you can test this on our demo: http://screencast.com/t/KjcEAe4uVK1n
I’m not what copula be the case of this, we have to investigate and document on this to find a possible reason.
