I need to add a shortcode in the description page of a category but it does not return anything when I view the category page.

Hello sniperetn,
Unfortunately, please notice that the theme does not recognize the shortcode in category description page and therefore, you cannot add shortcode there, sorry! You can try to use some plugins with this functionality which allow you to add these shortcodes.
