Should Child Theme be used?

Hi tagdiv community..

I was just wondering with all the recent changes with theme, is it no longer required to use a child theme.

Before recent updates, I was using child theme on my site but have noticed today that it has switched to Newspaper them and the child theme is now inactive.

Any info on this would be much appreciated.

Hi,

Please note that we do not recommend using the child theme, sorry! Most of the theme files were moved into the tagDiv composer plugin as per the requirements of Envato: https://help.author.envato.com/hc/en-us/articles/360000472383-WordPress-Theme-Requirements.
We wrote an article on the subject here: https://tagdiv.com/updating-the-core-of-tagdiv-themes/ Moving forward with such requirements, a child theme will only work with functions.php, and style.css, as there are very few files left in the main theme as Envato, requires all functionality to be added through plugins.

Hi,
Thanks for clearing that up for me Catalin. So am I right to assume that I can simply delete the child theme without disruption to the site?

Hi,

If you have the latest version of Newspaper theme and you do not have any functions in fucntions.php or style.css ( also you can set the css from directly in theme panel> in custom code>custom css ) you can delete it without problems.
