I have tried to disable Show comment count on the theme panel under post.
Why is this not working?

follow steps in the screenshot http://prntscr.com/cxsyee this will hide comment count on the home page but it will show in a single article.
to disable comment count on the single articles refer http://prntscr.com/cxsz28
