How to fill a widget with recent articles in a category, then place it in a sidebar?

Hi,
That is possible. You could use the default widgets sidebar or create new ones. New sidebars can be created from multiple places, for example from the theme panel per category options https://prnt.sc/pgAakghfSN4E
All your sidebars can be customized in the widgets panel https://prnt.sc/sPqjg2lJM25u and there you can add widgets inside them.
To display the recent articles, you could use a theme block of your choosing https://prnt.sc/j16if_AcdbBp Add it in the sidebar https://prnt.sc/hzfSjVIZzVvK and by default it will display the latest articles from all categories https://prnt.sc/00xqruAL3nog
