i’m a little puzzled. at 1 point when i would click on an article the next page would pop up with the article and a sidebar with additional articles, for some reason that don’t happen anymore only the article pops up no side bar and i do have it set with side bar

So the posts do not have a sidebar anymore? A sidebar can be set for each post, you can select from your available widget sidebars

To control many posts at once, you can use the primary category

By setting a sidebar for a category in the theme panel, each post that has it as primary category will inherit the sidebar.
If there is no primary category set, the first category alphabetically will be automatically set as primary. If the post has only one category this will be primary.
If the post has no sidebar set in the post edit screen, the theme will look to the primary category next. Let me know if you have more questions.
