I have a Single Post Categories block in my template which I have set up to only show the parent/primary category. However, it shows the first one alphabetically even when the settings are correct.

Hello!
All categories of level 1(PSA and Verzuim in your case) are considered parent categories.
That block will display this 2 categories alphabetically and you can not choose which one to display.
