Single Post Templates

Hi, does anyone know if it’s possible to assign a Single Post Template to an individual post. I know it could be done with Categories, but I’d like to assign a Post to a Single Post Template and have it display only for the purpose of the Post being assigned to. I can set up post as a page, but then I can’t get it to post through and element. Thanks in advance.
