This has also happened on my end when updating, any navigation to any other pages does not work either.

I have since restored the site from a backup with no update until further information may be provided on this matter.

1. DISABLE ALL THE PLUGIN WHICH YOU HAVE INSTALLED

2. CLEAR CACHE OF THE SITE (IF DEACTIVATED PLUGIN THEN DO THIS IN 4th STEP)

3. ACTIVE ALL THE PLUGIN WHICH YOU NEED.

4. CLEAR CACHE.

I tried this and all the glitch was removed. This can work For you. As It has worked for me.

Try this!

1. Deactivate TD Composer/visual composer in plugins section
2. Uninstall TD Composer in plugins section
3. Download the latest Newspaper 8.7 version from ThemeForest
4. Extract the content
5. Go to Theme –> Newspaper –> includes –> plugins
6. Locate the zipped td-composer file in the plugins folder
7. Head back to WordPress, install td-composer as a new plugin

Just fyi —

The envato ‘plugin’ updater will never work 100% of the time and may break site.

Always *best* to do it via FTP, as you can make a safety backup of your site before uploading new folders, in case something breaks or bad plugin causes site to not work at all due to some unexpected compatibility issue.

Also remember when doing major upgrade
– backups should be made of working website
– you will need to update theme, and theme related plugins; disable other plugins for testing
– disable any caching plugins, clear caching
– ideally disable mod_pagespeed during upgrade if using that via htaccess
– after upgrade you may want to use the wp-optimize plugin to help clean up any gremlins in dbase; –and– you should resave your ‘permalinks’ to clear transients
– you will also need to clear your history/cache in web browser to ensure you’re seeing the new CSS for site being loaded properly, or site may look broken/different

Also worth considering
a) copy the text/shortcodes from your home page layout into text file
b) copy/export any custom css
c) copy/export to text file any complicated widget codes you have setup

Just uninstall tagDiv Composer and install fresh and issue will be resolved. Don’t need to do plenty of steps. It worked for me. Thanks!

Thanks everyone! I have tried everything here, including a clean install. I am still getting a blank page. Does tagDiv actually help with issues like these? How do I send a ticket/request for help?

hey Kwacha,

I sent an e-mail to customer support at tagDiv so we’ll see if they’re able to fix this.

I’m having our hosting provider revert our site back to yesterday as I’ve tried going back to version 8.6 but the problem stayed. I’ve spent hours trying all the things everyone on here has mentioned but nothing has worked.

This is the first time in all the years I’ve had Newspaper that an issue cropped up so I’m sure they’re working on a fix. It seems like the new update is having trouble linking to our static homepage we created. All the other articles on our site look like they usually do, just the homepage issue only showing the menu bar on top remains.

Thanks gooma2! I appreciate it. I will take my site back too and see how it plays out.

I had many problems with 8.6, there were also many errors with that update. Now 8.7 also generates serious errors ….

I work with 8.5 and honestly, I do not think it will update until everything is solved.

It is not responsible to take an update and that it harms a web. My website has thousands of daily visits, such an error can mean many economic losses.

Hello Jose,

Please try to follow all of the above steps and make a new clean install to another sub-domain for testing after you have made a full back up to your database and check the results. Use the FTP method for update the theme.

Thanks for your understanding!

Hi Catalin – I have tried everything but nothing has worked.. I even did a fresh install – reset database, deleted all plugins and theme files, and still ended up with the same problem. I am now thinking about claiming a refund to avoid further issues. I need a stable solution for my news site. I chose Newspaper for it’s age and number of sales.. I assumed it was near perfect – as perfect as software can be. Please assist me to sort the update?
