Site Speed – Slow DNS

I know this is not a theme issue but maybe some other user people here have had a similar issue with their site.

I’m getting really slow DNS Lookup time on the webpagetest.org speed test. Best I have seen is 1.1 second and when I test other sites of friends or similar sites they are down around .4 or .5 second.

Also, when I put my site url without the www in the test it doubles the time.

Any ideas what to do? I asked my web host and they said nothing can be done. For the webpagetest.org speed test I’m picking a server that is only 800km away.
