Site Speed

Ok, so this is probably going to be a little unexpected…..

Somebody writes a forum entry about site speed and it doesn’t contain frustrated comments about how the theme is so slow 🙂

So, this morning I check my sites speed on the home page after not doing any work on the site for a week and guess what? It’s faster than ever 🙂

I run site wide https, I’ve got 14 plugins (not running speed booster plugin) there’s 81 requests on the page and the page size is 1.3MB

Pingdom 1.18 seconds
GTmetrix 2.23 seconds
Web page test 2.42 seconds

This has come down from over 10 seconds in January

Gotta say I’m absolutely delighted \o/ It’s been a lot of work optimizing the theme and the server but it can be done.

I think I can still squeeze a bit more out of it as I’m not using a CDN, I’m on shared hosting with A2 and some bits on the page need a tweak here and there.

So for once, wait for it………..
