Slider thumbs

Hi, I need some help regarding the slider.
1. Is there any solution to show excerpt form content under the slider title?
2. How can i show number of slides under the slider (1, 2, 3, 4)

i have tried <?php echo $this->get_excerpt(); ?> but gets a total mess
