Slow queries – Theme related?

Hi,

I have an unusual high server load. The query monitor shows some slow queries coming from the theme. What can I do about it?

On our site we actually turned off Visual Composer and using the beta ‘shim’ for homepage, and added function in functions.php to disable loading visual composer on post pages.

VC is a memory hog. On our server we were getting spikes going from .70 to 70 (!) — with quad Xeons 32GB RAM and gigabit switch.

You can also try some simple optimizations:
a) turn off the “related” posts “more by author” bottom of post pages (I am using separate smaller footprint text based related posts plugin where I can set length of time to query vs “everything forever”)
b) limit number of queries on home page – try to have no more than 10 blocks
c) try not using megamenu
d) try not using the flyout “you might like …”
e) on sidebars try using only one module type; try using module with text only vs thumbs.

All those things cut waaaaaaay back on queries.

In our case these also helped
a) limit login attempts plugin, help stop ping bots from hackers
b) turn off XMLRPC entirely

Exactly same probleme here !

Loading time is now of 7/8 seconds sometimes more.

Any real fix for this ? Before i update to the new version it didnt seems to have such issue.
