Smart List issue with captions/metadata

Smart Lists will not respect changes made to the caption once it has been inserted into a post. Here are the steps to reproduce:

1) Create a new post.
2) Add a header tag.
3) Insert a media (Enter a caption).
4) Add some description text under the photo.
5) In the WordPress post, hover over the image and use the edit feature.
6) Change the caption.
7) Choose a smart list.
8) Publish.

The smart list will display the caption in step #3 instead of the updated caption in step #6 due to using the attachment metadata rather than the media shortcode that WordPress prioritizes in a post.

This is especially troublesome when translating into multiple languages. Currently, whenever a translation is made, all media has to be deleted and reuploaded ensuring the caption is entered before it is inserted into the post. Typically when you translated, you only have to edit the caption by using the method in step #5.

This is a pretty high priority for us as my client wants to use the smart list feature. Thoughts on how to proceed?

Hello,
I will pass this information on to the dev team and hopefully we will be able to implement a fix for it in a future version of the theme.
Sorry for the inconvenience and thank you for pointing this out.

Thanks Bogdan,

Also, we are required to have 508 compliance which means images must have alt and title text. While updating this, could you please ensure each < img > tag in the smart list templates have alt and title included? I’m fixing this through the child theme, but shouldn’t be hard to implement when making the above change.
