Please note that social counter does not import settings from a template to another. You will have to set the social counter on each template.

What I had done wrong was putting in the full URL instead of just the specific identifyer as per the instruction at https://forum.tagdiv.com/tagdiv-social-counter-tutorial/ It must be so frustrating for you when the solution is set up to be so easy . . all the users (me) need to do is actually read the instructions : – )
