Social Icons in Menu, and Mobile Menu Questions

Hello,

Is it possible to have social icons in the Main Menu rather than in the Top Bar? I’d like them to the left of the search icon.

I noticed in the demo’s mobile menu there are social icons at the top. How do I get social icons to appear there?

Is it possible to have the mobile menu and the desktop main menu be different? Like have the mobile menu pull from the Top Header Menu location instead of the Header Menu location?

Thank You!

Hi

Yes it is possible to move these social icons in main menu but only by changing the code. Basically you have to edit the file corresponding with header style used. You will have to adapt the social icons to header style’s layout.

You will have to define a new menu menu in td_menu.php file: http://screencast.com/t/kmVZmZAEmT Next you have to call that menu in header-menu.php: http://screencast.com/t/VBCUreZu

These are complex tasks which require good coding skills in order to be achieved. We can’t offer customization services at the moment so if you still need guidance on this or you’re not aware of the steps you need to take in this regard please consider hiring a developer or a freelancer to do this for you.

Thanks!

Ah, I see there’s no simple way to make the mobile menu pull from a different menu than the desktop menu. I can use a mega page menu and place items under it, right? Only those items show in the mobile menu, but I can hide those items in the mega menu. Will this approach cause any problems? This is how I set up the menu:

But what about social icons in the mobile menu? They appear in the demo so I should be able to get that without any additional help.

Hi

Using that configuration for menu will create a similar result on desktop: http://screencast.com/t/cBGPbFZVBqhttp://screencast.com/t/X9AUW41jev The sub-items will be displayed under mega menu page and if that is ok you can use them like this.

Are you referring at social networks from theme panel http://screencast.com/t/ISmdXd4Q ? If so you just have to paste the link to desired networks in these fields and the icons will appear on both desktop and mobile devices. If this is not what you mean please provide more detail about what you’re trying to do so I can inspect it closer and get back to you with a more accurate answer.

Thanks!

I’m okay with the sub-items showing on desktop, since I was able to use CSS to hide the sub-items there.

I pasted the links to my social networks in two of those fields, but they do not show up in my mobile menu. They work in the footer. This is what my mobile menu looks like:

It looks nothing like the demo menu.

Hi

What theme version do you use? To have the same layout for mobile menu as on our demo you have to use V 3.0 of Newsmag. Try to update the theme at last version available on themeforest: https://forum.tagdiv.com/newsmag-how-to-update-the-theme/ clear all caches then test again.

Thanks!
