Some issues an future request

Hello,

First of all I’d like to say a big thank you for such a great WordPress Theme. I was looking for a very long time for news/magazine style WP theme fully compapitable with buddypress. So that’s how I came accross to choose this theme.

For sure there are also some issues, which I’m facing as well, so I hope you’ll be able to help me to solve it.

So let’s get started.

1. Ability to move Author Box to the top of the page.

Well, in my opininion for users it is much more important to see post authors at the top of the article nor at the bottom, when there is a multi-author website. So don’t you think that it would be very cool if we would be able to move author box to the top of the page?

Also some more issues:
– Now it shows author’s username in author box. Would it be possible somehow to change it automatically to author’s First and Last Name?
– Also is it possible to do drop-down author box similar to starbox does have?
author bio drop down

2. Add LinkedIn share button together with other social sharing buttons

Now all articles can have Facebook, Twitter, Google+ and Pinterest share buttons. But I think LinkedIn is also worth of being together with these buttons as it usually sends quite a lot of social visitors.

Also maybe it would be worth to consider to add social counters similar to Mashable does have?

3. Source URL and VIA url options doesn’t work properly

This theme does have a very cool option which let’s to mention who wrote the article and put a nice looking source.

But the problem is if let’s say you’ll put http://www.google.com/analytics in “Source URL” and http://www.google.com in “VIA URL”, then the system generates broken links and it redirects to 404 error pages.

In this case “Source URL” redirects to http://www.mywebsite.com/my-post-url/www.google.com/analytics and “Via URL” redirects to http://www.mywebsite.com/my-post-url?www.google.com, when it should redirect to http://www.google.com/analytics and http://www.google.com.

4. Ability to change text colors in main slides

Now if you change the color of the whole site, then the color in big slide will change as well.

Slide image color

The main problem is if I change website color, then sometimes the collor of title and collow of the box, which wraps the title, doesn’t look very attractive. So, it would be great if we could change class=”td-sbig-title-wrap” and class=”td-sbig-title” (the same is valid for small slides as well) via admin panel.

In this case I can change slide colors myself via css. But I think for many user it would be very useful if the would have a chance to change those colors themselves via admin panel.

5. Consider about “register” option in Login form at the top menu

There is a very cool option that we’re able to insert login form at the top menu, but I think it would be fair enough, that if users can login, first of all they should get an option to register on the site? 🙂

I think in that form should be additional “Register” form or at least something similar to “Not registered yet?”.

I want to thank you in advance in taking your time to read my problems and recommendations.

I do really believe that all those options would be very useful for other users as well, so maybe it is worth to consider to implement them in the next theme updates.

If not, I would really apreciate your recommendations on how I would be able to fix all those problems myself.

Thanks a lot and waiting for your honest answer 🙂

Hi,
1. You can choose from user editor what name should appear: http://screencast.com/t/OeZ5RrQe9
About an author box at the top of the article can be done by customizing that section via code.

2. I will add LinkedIn share on our todo list for the following updates. Also the theme share can be disabled via Theme panel and you cna use a plugin that contain multiple share networks, like Shareaholic, or Addthis plugin.

3. Make sure you add a link with http://.... this is a corect link not only a www.

4. Yes, you can change the color via CSS, add this CSS in Theme panel -> Custom CSS and change with other color. About an option in Theme panel, we will think about that, thanks for the suggestion.

.td-sbig-title-wrap .td-sbig-title {
    background-color: rgba(77, 178, 236, 0.7);
}

5. 🙂 Of course the login modal have a Register form to, on our demo is disabled to prevent user register. See here: http://screencast.com/t/gMqrvDupRdVV

Thanks for all the suggestion!
Have a nice day!

Hi Marius,

I have set the display name publicly as the authors name as well as the nickname but the author URL is still showing the username which is unsafe also not good for seo.

How can I change this so it displays the authors name? http://coconutoilpost.com/author/copmainin/

Latest version of everything

Thanks again for the support.

Hi,
You can use a plugin like Edit Author Slug or similar WP Author Slug

Thanks!

Hi Marius,

That fixed it. Could this be added in a later release so we don’t have to add additional plugins?

Thank you.
