We are trying to remove two filtering options from the drop down menu shown in the image attached. Is there a way to do this within the theme?

There is a setting in the theme panel to remove this element altogether: http://screencast.com/t/SsAIxHOS
If you want to remove only sections of it though you will have to edit the theme files and remove them from the code: http://screencast.com/t/8xArahGKfIFh
