We have already read documents and applied everything. We have removed G Ads so that we can get a closer look at why we are not getting good speed. Please check the URL and suggest direct/practical improvements.
Hi,
I see that now the page speed was improved -> https://i.imgur.com/oiuKU34.png -> https://i.imgur.com/YI2HrM9.png
As I can see you are using some external javascript links -> https://i.imgur.com/zTJ9XoW.png if you can reduce them, you’ll have a better speed. Also try to use only few extra plugins, this will also help you.
Thank you!
Don’t get caught up in the testnumbers, see how it works in reality. When I disable google fonts my website loading speed goes up 10% but when I surf my website I don’t see any difference, the problem is I am using a google font so have to enable it. I have found certain plugins can have a much bigger impact on real loading speeds, a bloated plugin like yoast for instance made a big difference when I deactivated it, now I use a very lightwheight plugin to add meta data and loading speeds have increased. Heavy plugins like wp-rocket also slowed down my site, instead I use several small lightwheight plugins that do one thing instead of a bloated plugin that does all.

@halav1994: Yes, we are already using WP-Optimize.
@FietsersbondHZ: If you removed Yoast, then which plugin you use for SEO? About WP Rocket- yes. It does all work and might be heavy. But before it, I tried WP Fastest cache, minify, auoptimize plugins. They did good job and I got speed upto 75-80 too. This week I wanted to try WP Rocket, so I am testing it.
I agree those small plugins do all work. But it also means we have to add 4-5 more plugins intead of 1. I am confused which way to go!
About Newspaper X mobile theme, as we have removed ads, why still Mobile theme does not give any benefits?
1 bloated all in plugin can have a worse impact on your website loading speed then 10 lightweight ones that do one thing only. For SEO I only added Easy WP Meta Description which adds one field for meta description to each post/page, this only to get the right description under our pages in google. WordPress is already well designed for SEO right out of the box, just make sure you have good titles and content and your website will pop up on the first page before you know it, Yoast or any other bloated seo plugin will only slow your entire website down.

Here you go: https://imgur.com/a/5BiW7f2
A week ago I had a higher pagespeed insights score: https://imgur.com/a/uN9J4gL but then I had several issues with themefunctionality like menu not working, thumbnails not showing etc so I had to tone it down. Currently I”m satisfied with the results and not going to spend anymore time in chasing higher number, the loadspeed is fine right now. The mobile speedscore is low but surfing our website on the phone doesn’t reflect that, it’s equally fast as on desktop.
Another example that given suggestions not always work out, gtmetrix says I should Defer parsing JavaScript to reduce blocking of page rendering. I can defer javascript with a “wordwhippet” plugin I”m using and as soon as I do that my pagespeed score goes to 99% but then my website menu’s are not working anymore so it’s a lot of trial and error, also your host can have a a visible impact on speed, we are with Hostinger/cloudflare, for the little amount we have to pay per year we cannot complain about speed, it can always be better but our organisation doesn’t have the budget to pay for fast hosting.

Exactly! the same problem with us. As soon as I turn on CSS Javascript optimization, my GTMatrix and Pagespeed go up to 95+. [That Awesome Feeling!] But at the same time, search box, menu, and as u said- some images/thumbnails don’t show up. We need to find solution if possible.
@Calin Hope you may help with this.
I”m using wordwhippet to hide WordPress/WooCommerce Version tags but could be my other plugin Block Bad Queries (BBQ) (https://wordpress.org/plugins/block-bad-queries/) is hiding some things too, not sure as it’s “plug and play” with no modification needed.
Hope you don’t mind me testing your website on my phone and desktop and something is not right, on my desktop your posts won’t even open, the front page opens relatively quick but your posts won’t, same problem on my mobile phone.
Just tried again to access posts, so categories load with a few second delay but posts either open with a longer delay or not at all and I”m getting 503 errors. https://imgur.com/a/fcR76MP
My own website as comparison posts load almost instant, I just tested my internetspeed with ookla and I”m getting a 96Mbps download and 9.6Mbps uploadspeed.
@FietsersbondHZ: From which country u r? I don’t know what to do? From my side, the site is working without any problem. Total load time 4 seconds.
@athenac: That’s sad! We are using 10.3.5. Which version u r using?
I don’t understand why we have to waste so much time with fixing the issue with every theme update.
Here the score from yesterday and did one again just now https://imgur.com/a/S3hb2p4, as you can see fully loaded time was 14sec yesterday, today it’s 5, I added my test as comparison, I”m from Belgium. Eventhough gtmetrix gives better results today I still have issues surfing your site, some posts open in 2 seconds, some take 5 seconds and some don’t open at all. gtmetrix says you have a lot of URL redirects, maybe that is the cause? Maybe it’s country specific, no idea.
