Static page for Category – Best Method?

Hi,

I’d really like to take control of the Category page using VC. Am I right in thinking I need to create an independent page and build it with VC, then create a 301 redirect with the original URL for the catergory page.

Example:

example.com/category – Original category page
example.com/category-new – Static VC built category page

Then a 301 from /category to /category-new

Will this have any negative effect on the site or the SEO?

Hello GadgetViper,

As you can see, the default category pages could not be customized by Visual Composer and a lot of users opted for this solution with 301 Redirect. Please notice that this is not the best solution and it might further affect the SEO and this it’s up to you.

hi,

i’ve got the same issue. what i don’t get is:

my blog is still in development and not published. so if i create individual static pages with the VC for each category then I don’t have to worry about 301s or google, right? because these automatically created category pages just do not exist, right? the menu links directly to these static pages.
